Post-Traumatic Growth Among Iranian Nurses Deployed to Combat Zones

Background & aim: This study aimed to explore post-traumatic growth (PTG) among nurses deployed to combat zones-a concept referring to positive personal changes following exposure to traumatic events with broad individual, social, and psychological implications.
Methods: This qualitative study employed conventional content analysis and was conducted at the Baqiyatallah School of Nursing between 2021 and 2023. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with 11 participants using purposive sampling. Analysis identified 22 subcategories grouped into six main categories: “spiritual growth,” “empowerment of interpersonal relationships,” “learning new cultures,” “finding new learning opportunities,” “enhanced resilience,” and “attitudinal change.”
Results: These findings indicate that PTG in deployed nurses is a multidimensional, context-dependent phenomenon influenced by various factors, including occupational stressors, mental health status, and prior combat exposure.
Conculoion: These insights can help nursing managers and deployment teams better understand the factors contributing to positive psychological growth among Iranian nurses. |
