title = {Investigating Interventions to Improve Sleep Quality in Hemodialysis Patients: A Meta-Analysis Study},
abstract ={Background & aim: Uremic syndrome, because of chronic renal failure, causes a wide range of problems in patients. One of the most important diseases which can be mentioned is considered to be sleep disorder. The prevalence of sleep disorder has been reported to be 40-85% that can cause a decline in various systems in the body, including cardiovascular and the immune systems and can eventually lead to a decrease in life quality and may also increase the morbidity and mortality rate in these patients. Therefore, finding effective interventions in order to manage sleep disorder of these patients should be part of the comprehensive care plan of patients undergoing maintenance hemodialysis. The present study was conducted to investigate the effectiveness of interventions to improve sleep quality in hemodialysis patients. Methods: A literature search was conducted using PubMed/MEDLINE, Scopus, Web of Science, EMBASE, ProQuest, Science Direct and Cochrane Library databases for publications up to May 2022 in order to find all studies that examined the effects of interventions (pharmacological and non-pharmacological) on sleep outcomes in hemodialysis patients. By performing meta-analysis, Standardized Mean Differences (SMD) and Confidence Intervals (CIs) of 95% were calculated for continuous outcomes using a random-effects model. The heterogeneity among studies was assessed using I2 statistic. Results: Totally, 15 studies with 997 participants were included in the meta-analysis. Findings reveal a positive effect of interventions on sleep quality based on the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) score, (SMD = -1.93, 95% CI = -2.63 to -1.22, P<0.001) with a significant heterogeneity among studies (I2 = 94.9%, P<0.001). Conclusion: Based on the findings of the present meta-analysis, interventions such as acupressure, relaxation techniques, pharmaceutical interventions and muscle relaxation have a positive effect on the quantity and quality of sleep of patients undergoing hemodialysis. However, due to diversity in methodological quality and the heterogeneity of the studies included in this study, it is difficult to draw definitive conclusions about the effectiveness of different intervention. As a result, the interpretation of the results should be done cautiously.},

title = {The Rate and Causes of Missed Nursing Care of COVID- 19 Hospitalized Patients in Intensive Care Units: A Multicenter Cross-sectional Study},
abstract ={Background & aim: The outbreak of the COVID-19 crisis has unprecedented pressure to the health systems around the world. Missed nursing care as a care that is needed by the patient but is omitted affects the quality and safety of care. The aim of this study was to investigate the rate and causes of missed nursing care of COVID-19 hospitalized patients in Intensive Care Units (ICUs) of Saqez and Diwandara hospitals. Methods: This cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted in 2021 on 110 nurses working in the special care units for COVID-19. Demographic Characteristics Questionnaire and the Forgotten Care Questionnaires were used to collect information. Data were analyzed using STATA version 12 software and Mann-Whitney, Kruskal-Wallis and Spearman's correlation coefficient tests. Results: The mean score of missed nursing care in ICUs for Covid-19 was 55.18 (20.24). The most common missed nursing care was controlling the patient's O2 saturation (18.75%) and recording the necessary information of patients (17.86%). The highest percentage of the factors related to missed nursing care was assigned to the lack of nursing staff (86.61%). The most common causes of neglected nursing care were lack of nursing staff (86.61%), lack of assistants or secretaries (74.77%), and the large volume of activities related to the admission and discharge of patients (67.66%). Conclusion: A high percentage of nursing care in the special care units of Covid-19 is lost under the influence of factors such as the shortage of nursing staff and forced overtime working hours beyond the tolerance of nurses. Nursing managers can create appropriate interventions to support the professional role of nurses during the pandemic by considering related factors.},

abstract ={Background & aim: Clinical guidelines play a significant role in improving the quality of patient care. Considering the lack of clinical guidelines for the care of central venous catheters in the country, this study aimed to compile a contextualized central venous catheter clinical guideline for being used in Iranian clinical settings. Methods: Contextualizing central venous catheters guideline was based on a developed approached by ADAPTE international collaboration network with three stages of set-up, adaptation and finalization. In the preparation stage, after establishing an organizing committee, the initial search of resources was done to check the feasibility of the study, to identify the required resources and skills and to also write the adaptation proposal. The adaptation phase started with a comprehensive search of resources to retrieve the maximum number of related guidelines. The search of sources led to the retrieval of 410 guidelines, which were reduced to 14 after screening the titles and abstracts based on the purpose of the study and the inclusion criteria. Then, the full text of the 14 included guidelines was reviewed in terms of methodological quality and the result was presented in the expert panel meeting. The methodological quality of the guidelines was evaluated with the AGREEII and a score of more than 70% was considered as an acceptable quality. In this way, one of the guidelines was selected and the adaptation process began. Finally, a translated draft of the guideline recommendations was reviewed in the expert and users panel, respectively. While making the suggested amendments, the level of their agreement with each of the recommendations were reviewed based on Likert scale from 1 to 9 (completely disagree to completely agree). Achieving a consensus more than 80 to assign grades 7 to 9 to each recommendation was resulted in keeping the recommendation. Finally, in the finalization stage, the contextualized version of the selected clinical guide was compiled for being used in Iranian clinical settings. Results: The full text of the 14 retrieved guidelines were reviewed. Among them, the “Central Venous Access Device (CVAD) Post Insertion Management” clinical practice guideline developed by NSW Agency for Clinical Innovation, with a quality score of 90.4% was selected for adoption. In addition, more than 80% of the stakeholders and expert panel agreed with assigning grades 7 to 9 to all recommendations of this guideline. As a result, all of the 50 recommendations of the guideline in assessment and intervention domains were accepted to be applied in Iranian clinical settings with a few modifications to make recommendations clearer and more understandable for users. Conclusion: The adopted version of CVAD post-insertion management clinical practice guideline with all 50 recommendations is applicable in caring of Iranian hospitalized adult patients with CVAD.},

title = {Evaluation of the Effect of Breathing Exercises on Respiratory Symptoms in Patients with Covid-19: A Randomized Clinical Trial Study},
abstract ={Background & aim: Dyspnea and respiratory problems are the most common complications of the covid-19 disease. On the other hand, an effective solution to reduce respiratory complications and prevent weakness caused by hospitalization is respiratory rehabilitation. Therefore, this study was conducted in order to determine the effect of breathing exercises on the respiratory symptoms of patients with covid-19. Methods: The present study was a randomized clinical trial study that was conducted on 72 patients with covid-19 after being discharged from the hospital. Patients were randomly assigned into two intervention groups (36 individuals) and a control (36 individuals). The intervention group received a booklet of breathing exercises and training on how to perform diaphragmatic breathing and lip bud breathing through WhatsApp software. For a period of six weeks, telephone follow-up was done twice a week (in the first four weeks) and once a week (in the second two weeks) to perform breathing exercises and to receive a self-reporting checklist of breathing exercises. The control group received routine care and education after discharge. Demographic information questionnaires and the Borg Dyspnea Scale were used to collect data. Two groups completed the data before and after the end of the intervention. Results: Findings revealed that the mean and standard deviation of the severity of dyspnea before the intervention in the intervention group was 4.61 ± 0.9 and in the control group was 4.14 ± 0.83. After the intervention, it was 2.47 ± 0.56 in the intervention group and 3.67 ± 0.75 in the control group, which shows a decrease in shortness of breath with an average difference of 2.13 between the two groups. Therefore, the effect of breathing exercises on the improvement of respiratory symptoms was statistically significant (P<0.001). Conclusion: Breathing exercises play an important role in improving the rate of dyspnea in discharged patients with covid-19. Therefore, it is recommended to teach breathing exercises before discharge to patients with covid-19.},

title = {Does self-esteem mediate the relationship between empathy and anxiety in nurses working in intensive care units?: A cross-sectional study},
abstract ={Background & aim: Empathy is considered as an essential element in nursing care and the essence of all nurse-patient interactions, which can be affected by stressful work environments such as Intensive Care Units (ICUs). High self-esteem enables nurses to establish healthy interpersonal relationships with patients and cope more effectively with stressful situations. This study was conducted with the aim of determining the role of self-esteem and anxiety on the empathy of nurses working in ICUs. Methods: This study is a cross-sectional research. The research population included nurses working in the adult inpatient wards of hospitals affiliated to Ilam University of Medical Sciences in 2023. Accordingly, 217 nurses were selected using the Karjisi and Morgan table in a convenience manner. Data were collected using the Demographic information questionnaire, Spielberger's anxiety, Rosenberg's Self-esteem Questionnaire, and Jefferson's Empathy questionnaire. The collected data were analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Results: The mean empathy, anxiety, and self-esteem of nurses were 92.38 ± 15.17, 65.66 ± 20.64, and 20.46 ± 5.49, respectively. A positive and significant relationship was observed between empathy and self-esteem (P < 0.01), and a negative and significant relationship was observed between empathy and anxiety, as well as self-esteem and anxiety (P < 0.01). The results of the Bootstrap and Sobel test showed that self-esteem plays a role in the relationship between empathy and anxiety in nurses working in ICUs. Actually, the higher the self-esteem of nurses, the less anxiety they experience and the more empathy they show in caring for special ward patients. Conclusion: According to the findings of the present study, it can be stated that a significant relationship exists between self-esteem, anxiety and empathy. In addition, self-esteem plays a role in the relationship between empathy and anxiety. Therefore, it is necessary to develop and use programs that increase self-esteem in order to manage anxiety and strengthen empathy skills in the stressful conditions of the ICU.},

title = {Comparing the Effect of Auditory Stimulation and Tactile on Physiologic Parameters in Patients with LOC Hospitalized in Intensive Care Units: A Semi-Experimental Study},
abstract ={Background & aim: Hospitalization in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is associated with side effects such as anxiety, pain and fear of an unknown environment and causes hemodynamic instabilities (increased blood pressure, pulse and breathing rates, etc.) These hemodynamic instabilities lead to the use of sensory stimulation programs which can be prevented, however knowing and using the best sensory stimulation program is of particular importance. The current study was carried out with aim of comparing the effect of auditory stimulation and tactile on the physiologic parameters in patients with Level of Consciousness hospitalized in the ICU in ‎Ali-Ebne-Abitaleb Hospital in Zahedan in 2021. Methods: In this single-blind semi experimental study, at first 80 patients in the ICU in Ali-Ebne-Abitaleb Hospital who met the inclusion criteria were selected and then randomly allocated by permutation block into two groups of auditory stimulation and tactile. In the auditory stimulation group, a prepared auditory file was used for 15 minutes for three days. In the tactile group, touching the hands patients was done for 15 minutes for three days. Physiologic parameters such as heart rate, respiratory rate, systolic and diastolic pressure, mean arterial pressure and O2 saturation was measured and recorded 5 minutes before and after the intervention by Cardio Set LX110 monitoring. Results: Findings revealed that the mean of systolic pressure and O2 saturation was not significantly different after the intervention between the two groups (P>0.05). However, in terms of the variables such as heart rate, respiratory rate, diastolic and mean artery pressure, the independent- T- test showed a significant difference after the intervention between the two groups (P<0.05). Conclusion: The application of the two stimulation methos can adjust some physiologic parameters in patients in ICUs. Furthermore, these methods can be used as simple, cost-effective and applicable methods for managing pain and recovering the physiologic parameters. title = {The Effects of Reciting Holy Quran by Tartil on Functional Capacity of Patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease: A Pilot Quasi-experimental Study},
abstract ={Background & aim: Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is one of the most common respiratory diseases. Due to limitation of breathing; especially on exhalation, shortness of breath, mostly on exertion is the main complaint of these patients, which in turn leads to a decrease in functional capacity and physical activity during daily life activities. Breathing exercises, pulmonary rehabilitation along with drug therapy, are foundation treatments. However, one of the obstacles of rehabilitation programs is the discrepancy between therapeutic measures and social-cultural aspects of patients’ personal lives that decrease the success rate of programs in long term. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of reciting the Quran by tartil as a culture- based breathing exercise on functional capacity of patients with COPD. Methods: The study was a prospective case series study done on a group of COPD patients referring to an outpatient respiratory clinic. They were enrolled in the study voluntarily with consideration of ethical codes. They were stable but had imitation in daily activities due to exertional dyspnea. The study was commenced on 2021/04/14 and terminated after six weeks. The subjects recited as much as Ayat of Yassin every day by tartil. Forced Expiratory lung Volume in first second (FEV1) and 6-minute walk distance test were measured before and after the study. Result: In order to carry out this study, eight COPD patients participated. The mean age was 66.38 ± 12.00 years, ranging from 42 to 83. Participants included three women and five men. Mean FEV1 increased at the end of study from 1.58 ± 0.76 to 1.36 ± 0.46. (P value = 0.002). The distance on six-minute walk distance test (6 MWT) increased from 310.60 ± 71.43 meters to 356.25 ± 85.72 meters significantly (P value = 0.002). The subjects perceived their shortness of breath decreased during 6 MWT at the end of study. The score decreased from 5.5 ± 1.5 to 4.5 ± 1.5 (P value=0.007). Discussion: Our preliminary results showed that reciting the Quran by tartil, which is compatible with religious culture, can increase the functional capacity of COPD patients. In reciting, the expiratory time and flow are adjusted to produce Quranic sounds. This might in turn reduce lung hyperinflation and air trapping. These changes cause an increase in the functional capacity of patients in terms of six-minute walk distance. In addition, a higher motivation of patients to perform such practical and functional exercises guaranties efficiency of such pulmonary rehabilitation in long term.},

abstract ={Background & aim: Intensive Care Units (ICUs) are considered as one of the most complex hospital units due to their high sensitivity and special conditions. Therefore, nurses in special care departments experience many challenges such as moral injury and conflict with management elements that can affect their performance and health. Moral injury is defined as guilt, social isolation and emotional numbness, which can affect the performance and physical and mental health of nurses. Therefore, the present study was conducted with the aim of investigating the relationship between moral injury in nurses and the ethical climate of critical care units. Methods: The present study was a cross sectional research that was conducted in 2022 in the ICU and Critical Care Unit (CCU) departments of hospitals affiliated to Tabriz University of Medical Sciences. The study population included 266 nurses working in CCUs who were selected by simple random method. Research tools included demographic questionnaire, moral injury questionnaire and ethical climate. Results: According to the findings of the present study, the average score of the ethical climate of special care units in general was 77.31 ± 6.84 and the average score of moral injury among nurses was 40.67 ± 3.93, which indicates the favorable ethical climate of ICUs and severe moral injury in nurses working in these departments. Among the different dimensions of Ethical climate, the highest score was related to the instrumental dimension with an average of 22.65 ± 3.57 and the lowest score was related to the independent dimension with an average of9.11 ± 2.13. By using the Pearson's correlation coefficient, no significant relationship was observed between ethical climate and moral injury. However, moral injury had a significant and inverse relationship with the organization's ethical climate rules and regulations subscale (P = 0.24, r = -1.38) and had no statistically significant relationship with the other ethical climate subscales (P>0.05). Conclusion: The findings showed that there is no significant relationship between the moral injury of nurses and the ethical climate of CCUs. Therefore, moral injury in nurses includes complex components and concepts that can be influenced by several factors. Also, the findings showed that the increase in organizational rules and regulations in CCUs will reduce the moral injury in nurses working in CCUs, so managers and trustees of medical systems should pay attention to this issue and take measures. Practices can reduce moral injury and also increase health and job satisfaction in nurses.},

abstract ={Background & aim: Compliance with airway care standards is necessary to maintain the health of patients admitted to special departments of hospitals. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between compliance with airway care standards and complications from endotracheal intubation. Methods: This descriptive-analytical research was cross-sectional. The research population of this study consisted of 122 nursing personnel working in four hospitals and in the internal ICU and surgical ICU departments of Persian Gulf Bushehr Hospitals, cardiac surgical ICU of Bushehr Heart Hospital, Salman Farsi Bushehr and internal and surgical ICU of Waliasr (AS) Hospital in Kazeroon, who were selected as a whole. In addition, 152 patients hospitalized in these departments were also included in the study for care evaluation. The data collection tool, including personnel demographic information and tracheal tube care checklist (including 69 questions and three items) was taken from the set of nursing care guidelines of the nursing system organization, and its validity and reliability were measured in this study. Results: The average age of the participants was 33.06 ± 55.3 years. Most of the nurses were women (62 people) and were working in the internal ICU department (63 people). Most of the participants had a bachelor's degree (113 people), and their work experience was 2-5 years (59 people). None of the variables of gender, education, work history, retraining history, and job status of nurses had a significant relationship with the degree of compliance with nursing care standards (P < 0.05). There was a significant relationship between the service location variable and the level of compliance with nursing care standards (P = 0.006(. Among the patients under care, 25.4% of ventilator-associated pneumonia complications, 22.4% of pressure ulcer complications, and 18.4% of extubation complications were reported. Also, there is a significant difference between the level of adherence to airway care standards and the complications caused by endotracheal intubation in patients (P -value<0.05). Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that the level of adherence to airway care standards by nurses is related to factors such as the service department. abstract ={Background & aim: Several issues cause agitation in patients hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), which in turn causes many complications in patients. For this reason, various methods have been used to reduce agitation, each of which have advantages and problems. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of the care plan based on the Roy adaptation model on the level of agitation in patients of the ICUs. Methods: This triple-blind clinical trial study was conducted in 2015 on 100 patients in a ICU. Two ICU wards in Sanandaj Besat Hospital were randomly selected as intervention and control wards, and eligible patients in each ward were assigned to the intervention or control group separately by a simple random method. In the intervention group, care based on Roy adaptation model was performed and in the control group, routine care was performed. The data were collected using Richmond agitation scales. Results: The average agitation at different times did not show a significant difference between the control and intervention groups (P>0.05). Conclusion: Care based on the Roy adaptation model by nurses did not affect the agitation of ICU patients. It is suggested to provide organized nursing care based on other nursing models in order to improve the health of patients in the ICUs.},

abstract ={Background & aim: Due to the increase of chronic and incurable patients, the need for palliative care in nursing is essential. Nurses need to acquire special knowledge and skills to provide quality palliative care. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between palliative care knowledge and the level of anxiety, stress and depression of special care nurses in hospitals affiliated to Rafsanjan University of Medical Sciences in 1400. Methods: This cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted with the participation of 77 nurses working in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Ali Ibn Abi Talib (AS) Rafsanjan Hospital in 1400. The level of knowledge of nurses was measured using the PCNQ questionnaire and the level of anxiety and depression was measured using the DASS-21 questionnaire. s 33.34 ± 5.17; The majority of them were women (62 people, 80.88%), single (53 people, 68.78%) and with work experience of more than ten years (36 people, 46.66%). The knowledge of nurses was checked through the PCQN questionnaire, which includes 20 questions with yes or no answers, and the participant receives a score of one for a correct answer and a score of zero for a wrong answer. The range of scores of the questionnaire is from a minimum of zero to a maximum of twenty, and a score of 15 and above indicates sufficient knowledge in the field of palliative care. The questions of this questionnaire include: principles and philosophy dimension, pain management dimension and palliative care spiritual services dimension. The average score was 2.65 ± 0.40 in principles and philosophy, 3.37 ± 13.89 in pain management, and 1.86 ± 0.97 in spiritual services. The total mean score of nurses' knowledge of palliative care was 2.7 ± 0.72. Moderate to very severe anxiety, stress and depression were seen in all nurses of the ICU. So that 48.1% had moderate depression, 31.2% had very severe stress and 50.6% had very severe anxiety. According to the results of the correlation analysis, no significant correlation was observed between the overall PCQN score and anxiety, stress and depression. Conclusion: The palliative care knowledge of special care nurses is insufficient, therefore, in order to fill this knowledge gap, it is suggested to develop comprehensive training programs for bedside nurses and provide palliative care topics in nursing undergraduate courses. In addition, the level of anxiety, stress and depression of nurses in special care departments is relatively high. Accordingly, no significant relationship was observed between palliative care knowledge and anxiety, stress and depression.},

abstract ={Background & aim: Delirium is an unpleasant experience for patients and their family, which brings complications for them. Early diagnosis and reduction of risk factors affecting delirium requires the knowledge and awareness of doctors and nurses of special care departments about the nature of delirium symptoms, disease symptoms and factors affecting the occurrence of this syndrome. The present study was conducted with the aim of determining the factors related to delirium in patients and family caregivers of patients admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Methods: In this cross-sectional study carried out in 2023, 256 pairs of patients admitted to the ICU in hospitals affiliated to Tehran University of Medical Sciences and their family caregivers were selected using the proportional stratified sampling. To collect information, three questionnaires including demographic information, CAM-ICU questionnaire and sour seven questionnaire were used. Results: The patients participating in the research had an average age of 41.75 ± 17.07 and most of them were male (55%) with an average number of hospitalization days of 11.84 ± 8.82. Delirium was reported positively in 210 cases of patients (81.7%). Family caregivers had an average age of 42.25 ± 14 and were mostly women (66.9%). In addition, 171 (66.5%) of family caregivers had reported symptoms of delirium. The results of the statistical analysis showed that there is a statistically significant relationship between delirium in patients and delirium in family caregivers in the samples of the participants in this study (P<0.5). Conclusion: Considering the high rate of delirium reported in patients and caregivers of patients hospitalized in the ICU, identification and screening of delirium is very important. By knowing the individual characteristics and factors related to the occurrence of delirium identified in this study and to the extent possible to correct some cases or support the caregivers, the ground can be prepared to improve the quality of care in the care system.},

title = {Comparison of Face-To-Face and Virtual Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Training Based on the Rate of Learning Resuscitation Skills in Military Families: A Clinical Trial Study},
abstract ={Background & aim: Cardiac arrest and heart attack are the most common cardiovascular diseases in the world. Most of the time, during a cardiac arrest, there is a person as an observer who can prevent brain death and save the patient's life in the golden time (first 4 to 6 minutes of cardiopulmonary arrest) by performing resuscitation. The aim of this study was to compare two methods of basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation training in person and virtual on the level of learning resuscitation skills (awareness and performance) in military families. Methods: In this clinical trial study, 100 people from families living in selected organizational areas were randomly assigned to two groups of face-to-face training (50 people) and virtual training (50 people). In the face-to-face training group, during a 2-hour session, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and how to deal with cardiac arrest victims were taught theoretically and practically (mannequins). In the virtual educational group, educational materials were presented by using virtual channels (once-up Weita platform) and sending animation videos, photos, short texts, and PDF files of educational booklets during two weeks. In order to collect data, a demographic form, an awareness questionnaire including 14 four-choice questions, and a performance assessment checklist including 13 items were used to assess the skill in cardiopulmonary resuscitation. At the end, the collected data were compared between the two groups. Results: Data related to age (P = 0.468), sex (P = 0.812), education (P = 0.307), occupation (P = 0.055) had no significant difference in the two groups. The U-Man-Whitney test showed that there was no statistically significant difference before the intervention between the two groups of face-to-face and virtual education in terms of knowledge and skill levels (P>0.05). Wilcoxon's statistical test showed that the difference in the mean score of knowledge and skill level before and after the intervention in both face-to-face and virtual education groups was statistically significant (P<0.05). Furthermore, the U-Man Whitney test showed that there is a statistically significant difference after the intervention between the two groups of face-to-face and virtual training in terms of knowledge and skill level (P<0.05). Conclusion: In this research, in both face-to-face and virtual training groups, the amount of knowledge and skill increased significantly compared to before and after the training. However, by comparing the two groups, it was observed that the amount of knowledge in the participants of the virtual training group was higher and the amount of skill in the participants of the face-to-face training group were more. Despite the belief of the effectiveness of face-to-face training, the findings of this research showed that virtual training can be as effective as face-to-face training.},

abstract ={Background & aim: Technological advancements have greatly aided patients in various ways to address and control life-threatening conditions. One such biomedical technology is ventilators. Over time, the number of patients requiring ventilators for their respiratory support has increased. The objective of this study was to explore the lived experiences of a patient with spinal cord injury dependent on a ventilator. Methods: This qualitative case study focuses on the lived experiences of a 31-year-old male who has relied on ventilator-assisted breathing for 23 years and has been hospitalized during this time. Data was collected through semi-structured interactive interviews. Data analysis was conducted using a phenomenological approach inspired by Van Manen. Results: From the analysis of the data, 170 meaningful units were identified, leading to three main themes: "fears and concerns", "satisfaction with agency", "life goes on", and eight sub-themes: "initial hard days, struggle with death, respiratory suffering, joy of training and Learning, participating in care, a family in the hospital, I'm comfortable on a ventilator, and living within God's eyes”. Conclusion: Knowing about the experiences of ventilator-dependent patients leads to a better understanding of nurses and other caregivers towards these patients. Reducing stressful factors (constant monitoring, being on time at the bedside, helping the family to be with the patient and getting familiar with the environment), creating a situation for the client to have a sense of control, participation and hope in life (providing situations for decision making and the patient's participation in the care, the formation of learning opportunities, responding to spiritual needs and its cultivation) can provide them with sweet and satisfying moments.},

To collect data, three tools were used: a demographic information registration form, a questionnaire on the missed nursing care in infection prevention and control, and a questionnaire on factors related to missed care. Results: The findings of the present study showed that the average score of missed nursing care in infection prevention and control was 75.83 ± 23.28 and below the average. The most important missed nursing care from the point of view of the nurses and midwives of Besat Hospital was the use of personal protective equipment by the service personnel of the department (4.88 %), the report of the patient's infection status when transferred to another department or paraclinical unit such as radiology (3.86 %), and teaching patients about bathing before surgery (3.86 %). The most important factor of forgotten nursing care was unexpected increase in workload and number of patients in the ward (79.69 %) along with insufficient number of nursing and midwifery personnel in the ward (32.75 percent). A statistically significant relationship was observed between forgotten nursing care in infection prevention and control with the related factors (P = 0.0001), (R = - 0.1940). Conclusion: The missed nursing care in the prevention and control of infection from the point of view of nurses and midwives of Besat Hospital was average. The most important factor was the unexpected increase in the workload the number of patients and the lack of personnel. The people participating in the research emphasized the role of systemic, organizational, and management factors in preventing effective infection control. Therefore, it seems necessary to reduce the factors that cause missed care with proper planning and management by reducing nurses' workload and providing budget and manpower.},

abstract ={Background & aim: The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is a specialized hospital unit designed to provide care for critically ill patients. Nurses who work in these departments play an important role in ensuring patient safety and providing safe and quality nursing care. However, various factors can affect nurses' ability to provide safe nursing care in these settings. This study was conducted with the aim of investigating the factors affecting safe nursing care in the ICU department. Methods: The present study was a qualitative study of conventional content analysis. The participants included nurses, doctors, and specialists in the field of patient safety, patients and accompanying patients. A total of 20 individuals were included in the study using purposive sampling method. Data collection was done using individual, in-depth and semi-structured interviews. Then, data analysis was done using the method proposed by Graneheim and Landman (2004) and the views of nurses and people related to patient safety in ICU were identified. Results: Two themes including holistic care and safety-oriented organization and four categories including systematic care, comprehensive care of all systems, human resource management and safe environment were extracted as effective factors in providing safe nursing care in ICU departments. Conclusion: The results of this study reveal the importance of promoting safe nursing care in ICU departments through a holistic care approach as well as a safety-oriented organization. These findings support previous research that emphasizes the importance of systems thinking and safe nursing care in improving patient safety and overall quality of care. In this way, by implementing targeted interventions and strategies based on these factors, healthcare organizations can create a safer environment not only for patients but also for the staff of the ICU.},

title = {Translation and Psychometrics of the Persian Version of the Thirst Distress Scale among Iranian Hemodialysis Patients: A Cross-Sectional Study},
abstract ={Background & aim: Thirst distress is a common complication in the final stage of kidney disease. The aim of this study was to analyze the network and psychometric properties of the thirst distress scale in the Iranian hemodialysis patients. Methods: In this cross-sectional study in 2023, 411 hemodialysis patients in Mazandaran were selected using the convenience sampling method. After translating the scale, its psychometric properties were evaluated through exploratory factor analysis, network analysis, and confirmatory factor analysis, and the structural validity (convergent and divergent validity) was assessed. Internal consistency was calculated using Cronbach's alpha coefficient, McDonald's omega, and composite reliability. Results: The results of exploratory factor analysis showed two factors of distress due to thirst and dry mouth were extracted, explaining 80.46% of the variance in thirst distress among hemodialysis patients. Additionally, confirmatory factor analysis showed that the assumed model had a good fit (CFI = 0.971, IFI = 0.971, RFI = 0.923, NFI = 0.969). The extracted factors demonstrated good convergent validity (AVE above 0.50 for both factors) and high reliability (composite reliability above 0.70), and were appropriately divergent (HTMT ratio of 0.512). Finally, the internal stability of the thirst distress scale was deemed acceptable (Cronbach's alpha and composite reliability above 0.70). Conclusion: The psychometric results of the thirst distress scale indicated that chronic kidney disease patients undergoing hemodialysis experience and perceive distress with two concepts of thirst and dry mouth. This study confirmed the psychometric properties (appropriate validity and reliability) and suitable factor structure for the Persian version of the thirst distress scale in hemodialysis patients. It can be stated that healthcare providers can utilize it in future studies.},

title = {The Relationship between Autonomy and Professional Commitment with the Level of Education in Critical Care Nurses: A Cross-Sectional Study},
abstract ={Background & aim: Professional autonomy and commitment are factors influencing the retention process in the nursing profession, job satisfaction and quality of care in Critical Care Units (CCUs). The level of education of nurses plays an important role in their ability to develop autonomy and commitment. This study was conducted with the aim of investigating the relationship between autonomy and professional commitment with the level of education. Methods: The present study is a cross-sectional study was conducted in the year 2021 in the CCUs of hospitals affiliated to Qom University of Medical Sciences. The study population consisted of 160 nurses working in CCUs who were selected by available method. Research tools included demographic questionnaire, autonomy and professional commitment questionnaire. In order to determine the relationship between the variables, Pearson correlation, analysis of variance and independent t tests were used. Results: According to the findings, the average score of professional commitment in the CCUs in general (12.82 ± 91.14) and the average score of professional autonomy in nurses (74.10 ± 15.35) was reported, which shows the commitment and high professional autonomy of the nurses working in these units. Among the different dimensions of professional commitment, the highest score was related to engagement with the nursing profession with an average of 3.63 ± 0.78 and the lowest score was related to understanding of nursing with an average of 3.02 ± 0.56. Professional autonomy in the performance-based autonomy dimension had the highest mean (25.26 ± 6.31) and value-based autonomy dimension had the lowest mean (23.87 ± 6.15). Professional autonomy had a significant relationship with the level of education (P = 0.020). Conclusion: The findings showed that there is a significant relationship between commitment and professional autonomy. Therefore, familiarizing nurses with the factors affecting professional autonomy, including increasing and updating knowledge, can be effective in increasing professional autonomy. Considering the autonomy in the performance of nurses in CCUs, it can increase the quality of care by increasing professional commitment. Also, the findings showed that considering the limited level of education, it cannot be concluded that nurses with a bachelor's degree show higher autonomy and professional commitment.},

abstract ={Background & aim: Time management and knowledge management are two important and influential components of the quality of care and the improvement of nurses' performance, especially in Intensive Care Units (ICUs). Therefore, this study was conducted with the aim of determining the relationship between knowledge management and time management among nurses working in ICUs in hospitals in the Khuzestan province. Methods: The present cross sectional study was conducted with the aim of determining the relationship between knowledge management and time management in 384 head nurses working in ICUs in educational and private hospitals in Khuzestan province, with the position of head nurse and with informed consent, using a census method. Demographic, time management, and knowledge management questionnaires were completed by the participants. Results: The findings indicated that the majority of participants were female (189 Individuals, 93.1%) and married (196 Individuals, 96.6%). Time management among the studied charge nurses in the ICUs was mostly at a moderate level, with 87.2% (177 Individuals) falling into this category. Regarding knowledge management scores, most of the studied charge nurses in the ICUs were weak, with 91.2% (186 Individuals) falling into this category. There was a significant relationship between knowledge management and time management (P<0.003). Conclusion: Since according to the findings of the current research, the score of time management was at an average level and the score of knowledge management was at a weak level, therefore, including the educational content related to these two subjects in the educational program of undergraduate students and designing in-service training courses, especially for nurses and supervisors is suggested. Actually, it is considered as one of the effective steps that can help improve the present situation.},

abstract ={Background & aim: The triage system of the emergency department prioritizes patients to receive medical care, and errors in prioritizing patients can have serious consequences. This study aims to evaluate the Performance Emergency Severity Index in the triage of trauma patients referred to the emergency department of Ashayer Shohada Khorramabad Hospital in 2023. Methods: The current cross-sectional study was conducted using an available sampling method on 375 trauma patients referred to the emergency department. First, the reliability of the Emergency Severity Index (ESI) triage was calculated by examining the agreement between observers (inter-rater reliability) and Cohen's kappa statistical test. Then, to validate the levels of severity, in the absence of a gold standard, the outcome of trauma patients was used as an alternative marker. Researchers compared the results of nurse's triage for each of the outcomes, and based on this comparison, the validity of ESI triage was evaluated in terms of heavy and light triage. The obtained data were analyzed using STATA-17 software, and the chi-square test was used to validate the triage. A value of P<0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: The findings of the present study showed that the percentage of patients assigned to levels one; two, three, four, and five were 2.94, 15.2, 61.6, 12.53, and 7.73, respectively. Kappa calculated from the inter-rater agreement for ESI triage was determined to be 0.7. The ESI triage system generally had an error in 23.2% of the performed care prioritization. Conclusion: According to findings, ESI triage has high inter-rater reliability in performance. In terms of validity however, it needs a serious review, and most of the trauma patients are placed at the level of three ESI triages, and a large collection of undifferentiated patients is created, which weakens the main purpose of triage.},
