abstract ={Aims: Different occupational environments affect the quality of life and occupational stress has serious effects on health and life quality . Paying attention to nurses’ health and quality of life and keeping them healthy is of great importance, first of all as a human being and then as people who are responsible for health of other society members. This study was performed to compare the quality of life in nurses of special care units and internal-surgical wards. Methods: This descriptive-cross sectional study was performed on 250 nurses working in special care units and internal-surgical wards in two of Tehran’s educational hospitals in 2008. Study units were selected by systematic random sampling. Data collection tools were demographic data questionnaire and SF-36 quality of life questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistical indices and inferential non-parametric statistical tests including Chi square, Mann-Whitney, Kruskal Wallis and Spearman test by SPSS 15 software. Results: Mean scores of physical and mental health and total quality of life scores, showed significant difference between nurses of special care units and internal-surgical wards (p<; 0.05). There was a significant correlation between type of ward, economic, social and occupational satisfaction and quality of life (p<; 0.05). Conclusion: Regarding some inevitable stressful factors in nursing occupation and the necessity of preventing physical, mental and behavioral consequences of stress on nurses, measures should be taken in order to develop their occupational environment and quality of life. Also, teaching oppositional methods to nurses is suggested.},

abstract ={Aims: Rhythm dysfunction is one of the important cardiovascular problems and pacemakers have been used increasingly during past decade. Complications and pacemakers’ dysfunction can be prevented by providing necessary information and nursing care to patients. This study was designed to examine nurses’ performance in giving care to patients with temporary and permanent pacemakers. Methods: This cross-sectional descriptive study was performed on nurses of Kerman University affiliated hospitals in 2007. Data was collected by a researcher-made questionnaire with 36 questions on nursing care (15 items on hospital care and 21 items on discharge time nursing care) after determining its Validity and reliability. Data was analyzed using descriptive statistics indices and Chi square, Pearson and mean comparison tests by SPSS 15. Results: The mean score of postoperative care was 23.30±6.27. The discharge time mean score was 44.66±14.30. Pearson test demonstrated significant relationship between postoperative and discharge time caring scores (r=0.577 p=0.0001). There was no relationship between postoperative and discharge time care scores with cardiac re-education courses. Conclusion: Considering nurses’ lack of information on patient education and the critical situation of these patients, establishing nursing re-education courses and adding courses with functional content to nursing curriculum are suggested.},

abstract ={Aims: Having equal access to healthcare services is one of the basic rights of all people. Kidney transplant beds are one of the most important and valuable resources of healthcare system which their unequal allocation can cause irrecoverable complications in addition to emergency patients’ transportation. Present study was designed to evaluate the access to kidney transplantation services in different provinces of Iran. Methods: In this applied descriptive-analytical study, number of kidney transplant beds for each province in portion with province population in year 2006 was analyzed using Gini coefficient and Lorenz curve with Excel 2007 software. Results: The total number of kidney transplant beds in Iran was 295, which 163 (55%) of them were located in Tehran. Approximately, half of population, only has access to 20% of kidney transplant beds and the other half has access to 80%. Gini coefficient was 0.4 which demonstrated the non-equality. Conclusion: There isn’t equal accessibility to kidney transplant services in Iran due to unequal distribution of kidney transplant beds.},
