Abstract:   (3011 Views)
Aims: Effects of workplace violence in a way that it is one of the most important reasons for nurses leaving the profession as a nurse . Hence the present study , " the vision care nurses about violence at work " was done . Methods: A cross sectional study of descriptive-analytical kind was performed on ICU nurses of Educational and Therapeutical Centers of Hamedan in 2009. A random categorical sampling at the number of 170 samples was done. Data gathering tool was modified Minnesota Workplace violence Questionnaire which included 52 questions. Data was analyzed using SPSS 16 software and descriptive statistics. Results: Prevalence of violence was 74.1%, most common kinds of violence were verbal misbehavior, threatening, physical battery and sexual assault and the most violence was from patients and their company. The violence was most reported verbally and legal pursuit was little and the most common reason for that was nurses' feeling that it is useless. Most of the nurses were dissatisfied with violence management in their institute. Conclusion: Despite high prevalence of violence, written reporting and legal pursuit of it was low. With educating the nurses, support from managers, surveillance on patients' attendance in the unit, empowering the guarding unit and effective inter individual connection, it seems this violence can be reduced.
