Biomarkers-based research in nursing

Introduction: Most of the nursing diagnoses which are the part of nursing process are related to biologic changes of body. Therefore, it is necessary to provide scientific quantitative research based documents in the fields of biology in the curriculum of nursing students. An interdisciplinary interaction and collaboration is needed for these kinds of researches between nursing and basic sciences scientists. The purpose of this review article is to describe the role and importance of quantitative research and introducing some of the biomarkers such as blood gases, VO2max, cytokines and oxidative stress which may be useful in nursing diagnosis. Conclusion: To do some nursing cares, interdisciplinary interaction and collaboration between nursing and basic sciences scientists is needed to do nursing research which focused on biological markers .
